Description

Franklyn Lodge is a lodge cottage dating from around 1850. It is constructed from rock-faced red sandstone with buff sandstone dressings, topped with a Welsh slate roof and two stone chimneys featuring pairs of octagonal stacks. The design is in the Tudor Gothic style, with a cross-shaped plan. The front is a 1+ storey, 2-bay configuration, with the left-hand bay projecting under a coped gable. A porch further projects, featuring a rectangular, chamfered doorcase with a label mould. Pierced circular panels support heavy coping to the balcony above, and the windows to the side of the porch consist of triple round-headed lights on colonnettes. A further chamfered doorcase is located in the right-hand bay. To the left side is a triangular bay with a similar balustraded parapet.
