Description

White Gate Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with an early 19th-century addition and a raised roof. It features brick nogged timber framing, with later additions in washed brick. The roof is covered with Kerridge stone-slate and has a stone ridge along with two brick chimneys. The front of the cottage has five by two irregular timber small frames, which include angle bracing of the wall plate. The roof has been raised, and a bay has been added to the right in brick. All openings are now 20th-century with applied lead glazing. Major 20th-century brick extensions added to the right are not included in the listing. The cottage is noted for its group value.
