Description
Gatepiers and gates, dating from the mid-18th century, are located about 20 yards northeast of the Old Stable Block at Peover Hall. These features were brought from Alderley Park and are made of ashlar and wrought iron. The structure includes two larger central gatepiers of square plan, flanked by two slightly smaller piers on either side. Each pier has projecting plinths with cyma mouldings at the top. The piers feature raised and fielded panels on the front, with fillets on the sides that support the gates. Above the piers are entabulatures and ball finials set on concave-sided pyramids. The central area has double gates, while there are pedestrian gates in a rococo style on either side.
