Description
The Cemetery Chapel is a mortuary chapel built in the 19th century, featuring a single tall storey divided into three bays. At the center is a three-stepped-stage tower, with the lower stage serving as an entrance porch. The entrance consists of tall pointed plank doors set within a pointed, double-chambered surround that has a hoodmould. The tower is flanked by stepped off-set buttresses at the lower stage, which frame the entrance, and the returns have a plinth with stepped copings interrupted by a lancet light.
The second stage of the tower has a slit window on each side within a rectangular recess. The third stage is octagonal and features trefoil-headed belfry windows. The octagonal spire has a splayed base and lucarnes, topped with a cross at the apex. On either side of the tower, there are four-centred arched windows.
At the rear, there is a porch to the left that includes a pointed plank door with a chamfered surround and a hoodmould, along with off-set buttresses at the angles and a cross at the apex. The rest of the rear has two four-centre-arched windows. The right return features a continuous sill band and a wide pointed-arched window with a hoodmould and facestops, while the left return has a stepped three-light window. All windows are currently boarded over. The roof has two triangular lucarnes on each side, coped gable ends, crosses at the apexes, and decorative ridge tiles. The interior has not been inspected.
