Description
Souter Point Lighthouse foghorn, located to the east of the lighthouse, was built in 1871 by Sir James Douglas for Trinity House, London. This engine house features a rendered exterior and a painted iron horn. It is a single-storey structure with one bay, raised quoins, and a cornice. There is a door on the west side and a window on the south side. The flat roof supports a drum that holds the horn. Surrounding the foghorn are white-rendered serpentine walls with round coping, which end in piers topped with low pyramidal caps. These walls flank the steps leading up to the wall enclosing the lighthouse, and a similar type of walling forms an enclosure for the horn.
