Description
This building is a barn, gin-gang, and shelter shed located to the west of Brierdene farmhouse, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed sandstone, with a barn roof covered in concrete tiles, while the gin-gang and shelter shed have pantiled roofs with stone copings. The barn is long and consists of two sections, featuring Dutch doors in splayed openings and slit vents set in stone surrounds. The octagonal gin-gang has back piers made of canted stone and front piers made of brick, topped with a pointed roof that has a lead ball finial. The shelter shed includes a three-bay ground-floor segmental arcade supported by square piers, with small windows above. There are feeding racks on the rear wall and an external stone staircase at the east end.
