Description
The former valve house, built around 1870 for the Newcastle and Gateshead Water Company, is now used as a storage building. It is constructed of snecked sandstone with pecked quoins and dressings. The roof is made of Welsh slate and features a lead ball and spike finial. The building is single-storey and has a square layout with one bay. On the east side, there is a diagonally boarded door set in a stop-chamfered surround. The south side has a square, renewed window with a flat stop-chamfered lintel and a projecting stone sill. The pyramidal roof has wide overhanging eaves.
