Description
Plummer House is a Grade II listed building located on Market Street East in Newcastle upon Tyne. Built in 1910 by the architectural firm Newcombe and Newcombe for Tilley and Co, it originally served as banquet and assembly rooms before later being used as offices. The building is constructed from sandstone ashlar and stands four storeys tall with eleven bays in a classical style.
The central three first-floor windows feature alternate pediments, while each of the two end bays also has pediments. The windows are adorned with bracketed architraves and sashes above, with intermediate recessed pairs of bays containing sashes in plain reveals. A prominent cornice crowns the second-floor entablature, with smaller sashes in plain reveals above. All windows are fitted with glazing bars. The building is topped with a high roof balustrade that includes urns at the corners of the recessed sections and at the ends.
