Description
Ivy House is a 17th-century building constructed of red brick and features a very high pitched roof now covered in Welsh slate. It showcases ornamental brickwork, which is now rare in the area. The house is two storeys tall with five windows. The west end has been altered and the roof was raised during the late Georgian period. It has a sandstone foundation, a moulded brick cornice, and a corbelled string that rises to form drip moulds over elliptical arched window openings, along with a plinth band. There is an inserted six-panel door with a fanlight. The original rear pentice was extended in the 19th century. The interior has been largely remodelled in the 19th century, but some ceiling beams with convex chamfer stops are still visible. The roof structure includes king post trusses with posts that are double-braced to the tie beam and support a ridge piece, but there are no purlins.
