Description

This is a traditional long-house with adjoining farm buildings, dating back to 1751. A stone lozenge bearing this date is located above a ground floor window. The house is constructed of brick on a stone plinth, while the farm buildings have a clay pantile roof. Both have Welsh slate roofs, stone ridge and gable copings. The house section (on the right-hand side) features a doorway with stone quoins and lintel, a three-light centre-sliding sash window with glazing bars, and two further three-light Yorkshire sash windows to the first floor. The farm buildings on the left-hand side have two late 19th-century casement windows, blocked doorway and first floor window openings to the right, and five narrow granary vents, four of which are blocked. An early 19th-century extension adjoins the north-east gable of the farmhouse, built of dressed sandstone with a Welsh slate roof, stone gable copings, kneelers, and two stacks at each gable. This extension has two storeys and three bays, featuring sash windows with glazing bars, stone lintels and sills, and two late 20th-century skylights. The listing also includes a mid-19th century stable adjoining the south-west gable of the farm building, constructed of brick with a pantile roof and a stone ridge coping, and featuring a single sash window with glazing bars. Outbuildings to the north-west of the farmhouse have been significantly altered and are not considered of interest.
