Description
Pinchinthorpe Hall is a house set within a rectangular moated site, dating from the mid 17th century, with later alterations and additions. It is constructed of dressed sandstone and features a clay pantile roof, with stone ridge and gable copings, and stacks at the northwest and southeast gables. The northeast wing projects forward, creating an "L" shaped plan. The building has two storeys, with a projecting flue that is corbelled out at first floor level in the center of the northwest gable, flanked by early and mid 19th century sash windows with glazing bars on each floor. The main range has five bays on the northwest elevation, with mid 18th century sashes with glazing bars replacing the original mullioned casements on the first floor. The original ground-floor windows have been obscured by larger mid 18th century and mid 19th century sashes with glazing bars, and there is a gabled mid 19th century porch made of matching materials. An oval window with a drip mould is located in the tympanum of the southwest gable, with blocked original window openings below. The building features a plinth and a string band between the floors. There are mid 19th century gabled extensions to the southeast and northeast, also made of sandstone ashlar with pantile roofs, and two storeys high. These extensions have sash windows, some with drip moulds, and a string band between floors. Inside, there is mid 19th century plasterwork on the ceilings, an open-well staircase, and carved chimney pieces.
