Description
The terrace walls to the south of Chesters are likely from the early 20th century. They are constructed from drystone in irregular courses, featuring cut dressings. The walls have a flat coped retaining structure that decreases in height at the front, surrounding a circular lawn. There is a central flight of 16 steps, arranged as 8 steps followed by another 8 steps. The flanking terraces end with curving flights of concave and convex steps. Ball finials are positioned at the flanking steps and at the ends of the walls. These walls hold significant group value with the south front of Chesters.
