Description
Forge Cottage is a house that was originally a pair of cottages, built in the late 18th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble with roughly-shaped quoins and cut dressings, topped with a stone slate roof. The building is single storey and has four bays. It features 16-pane sash windows set in raised stone surrounds. The gables are coped, and there are banded end and central ridge stacks. The returns of the building show blocked doorways with alternating-block surrounds; the doorway on the right has a later 4-pane sash window inserted. There are square attic openings in raised stone surrounds, with the opening on the left blocked and the one on the right boarded. There are 20th-century extensions to the rear that are not of interest.
