Description

The front wall and gateways to The Hall and Hallsteads in Alnmouth, Northumberland, date from the 19th century but incorporate early 18th-century fabric. The structure is made of squared stone with cut dressings. The gateways feature square piers with plinths and banded pyramidal caps, while the gateways to The Hall have attached jambs. The right wall includes a blocked chamfered opening, and the taller right end has a blocked doorway with a moulded three-centred arch and a lintel inscribed with the letter "L" above the date 1713. An altered building at the rear of the wall is not of special interest.
