Description

A terrace of six cottages, dated 1809, situated on the south side of Front Street, Bamburgh. The cottages are built of ashlar stone with Welsh slate roofs and display a Gothick architectural style. They are arranged as single-storey, three-bay dwellings, stepping to follow the natural slope of the land, in pairs. Each cottage has a central two-leaf panelled door, topped with a Tudor-arched fanlight and a hoodmould; the flanking windows have two lights with pointed arches and Y-tracery glazing bars, also with hoodmoulds above. The gabled roofs feature flat coping and small kneelers. The chimneys are a mix of corniced ashlar and banded rendered stacks. Internally, the living rooms have barrel-vaulted ceilings supported by ceiling beams.
