Description
This sundial, dating from the late 18th century, is located approximately 50 yards south of Little Harle Tower in Kirkwhelpington. It is constructed from sandstone and designed in the Gothick style. The base features two roll mouldings that are separated by a hollow moulding. The shaft is slightly concave and tapers upwards, adorned with tracery panels that have cusped, arched heads, each containing stylized plant carvings. Halfway up the shaft, there is a ring of lozenges that includes quatrefoils. The top of the sundial is rounded and decorated with rosettes.
