Description
Nos. 157 and 159 on Main Street is a late 18th-century building that was originally one house and later used as a school by the Lord Crewe Trustees from 1850 to 1904. The structure is built of ashlar stone and has a Welsh slate roof, designed in an L-shape over two storeys and three bays.
The former central round-headed doorway has been converted into a window and features moulded imposts, an archivolt, and a fluted keystone. It retains its original fanlight with intersecting glazing bars. The windows are 12-pane sashes with sill bands, and there is a cornice above. The gabled roof has flat coping and end stacks, with the left stack being renewed in brick. There are also doorways located at the rear of the building.
