Description
These farm buildings, located to the north-west of Old Ridley Farmhouse, were built in the late 18th century. A north range was later converted into garages with a flat roof around 1980. The buildings are arranged around a rectangular farmyard, with ranges on the north and west sides.
The north range, originally shelter sheds and a granary, is two stories high and four bays wide. It features a pair of segmental arches. There is a 20th-century casement window in the upper part of each bay, with slightly projecting sills. The right return displays a raised gable with a cornice and pediment, flanked by ball finials, and stone brackets formerly used to support a flagpole.
The west range, a barn, is two stories high and five bays wide, with an irregular appearance. It has stable doors on the ground floor of bay 5 and the first floor of bays 2 and 4, along with 20th-century garage doors in bay 1. Smaller ground floor windows and slit vents are also present. A lower bay to the left has a boarded door and a pent roof. A small window on the rear elevation replaces what was formerly a driveshaft for a gingang mill, and the north end shows slit vents above a lower building, with a part-slatted window. An adjacent east range has been altered and is not considered to be of interest.
