Description
This pair of limekilns, likely built in the early 19th century, is located 350 metres northwest of Hobberlaw. They are constructed from roughly-squared stone with cut dressings. The western kiln features brick drawing arches and a header brick lining to the pot. Each kiln has an irregular polygonal shape. The earlier eastern kiln includes semicircular drawing arches and large raking buttresses on the intermediate faces, while the unbuttressed western kiln has segmental squinch arches above the eyes. The circular pots are significantly overgrown as observed during the survey.
