Description

Ilderton Hall is a house built in 1733, likely incorporating an earlier structure. It was altered and extended at the rear in the early 19th century. The building features an ashlar facade, with rendered areas that have ashlar dressings, and a Welsh slate roof. It has a double pile plan, stands two storeys tall, and consists of six bays.

The exterior includes a chamfered plinth and a six-panelled door located in the fourth bay, which is topped by a Gothick overlight and framed by a raised surround. The windows are 12-pane sashes set in raised surrounds, with a band running across the first floor. The surround of the third window on the first floor extends down to frame a shield of the Ilderton family and an inscription that reads "MT 1733." The roof is gabled with cyma-moulded coping and kneelers, featuring one ashlar corniced stack on the left gable and two rendered stacks.

The rear facade has angle pilaster strips and primarily 16-pane sash windows. Inside, there is an early to mid-18th century staircase with a broad moulded handrail, turned balusters, and a panelled dado, located in the third bay. The entrance hall contains an early 18th century fireplace with an architrave surround, a contemporary grate, a moulded cornice, and a panelled overmantel. There are also two- and six-panelled doors. Additionally, two large fireplaces at the rear of the house suggest that it may have originally been an L-plan house before being converted into its current double-pile layout in the early 19th century.
