Description
The farmbuilding group located to the north of Cockhall Cottages dates from the mid-18th century, with some parts from around 1800 and others from the mid-19th century. The earlier sections are constructed from large, roughly-squared stone, while the later parts use roughly-squared stone with tooled-and-margined dressings. The roofs are primarily covered with Welsh slate, except for the east range, which has blue asbestos slates.
These single-storey ranges surround a yard that is open to the south. The north range features an arcade with three segmental arches. The east range includes two boarded doors and two part-slatted windows. Its right return is designed in a Gothick style, showcasing a stepped triplet of blind lancets beneath a Tudor hoodmould, along with an embattled gable topped with finials. The taller west range has part-slatted windows and a hipped roof.
On the rear elevation of the west range, there is a segment-headed arch with remnants of a former gingang to the right and a pent cartshed to the left. Additionally, a large raking buttress is present at the rear of the east range.
