Description

The Powder House, located north-east of Seahouses Point, is an explosives store built in 1886. It is constructed from sandstone and has a rectangular plan with straight walls and a barrel vaulted roof. The building features a single doorway on the south-west front, which is topped with a timber lintel. This structure was specifically built for the storage of gunpowder used in blasting during the construction of the Long Pier and the New Harbour.
