Description

A group of cottages, likely built in the early 19th century and remodelled around 1880, stands on the north side of Longhirst Village. The cottages are constructed of squared and tooled stone with tooled-and-margined dressings, and have slate roofs. They comprise 18 bays, with numbers 14 to 16 featuring a low upper floor. All doors have been replaced, and the windows are sash windows. Numbers 14 to 16 have small first-floor Yorkshire sashes that progressively decrease in height. A yard entrance is marked by a timber lintel, located between numbers 17 and 18. The cottages are distinguished by four stepped and corniced ridge stacks. Numbers 14 to 16 are notable for having uniform eaves, while their ground levels rise.
