Description
The row of four boundary stones, dating from around 1830, is located on the boundary between Longframlington and Newton on the Moor. These stones are made of cut sandstone and feature segmental-topped pillars that stand between 0.6 to 0.7 metres high. The south-west side of each stone has the incised letters "WSD," while the north-east side has the letter "C." These stones mark the north-east side of a trapezoidal area of moorland. The letters likely refer to William Davison of Swarland, who was the landowner from 1829 to 1873, and the Cook family of Newton Hall, who adopted the name Widdrington in 1840. The north-west side of this area is defined by the Longframlington and Edlingham boundary, with those stones listed under Edlingham parish.
