Description

Dipton Mill Bridge is a bridge dated 1822, as indicated on a panel on the internal face of the west parapet, which is now badly eroded. The bridge was widened in the 20th century. The west face features a segmental arch with a boldly-projecting string above, supported by hollow-chamfered corbels. The abutments are set slightly forward and continue the string with a slighter projection. The parapets have sloped coping that is splayed out to the south and terminate in piers topped with low pyramidal caps. The east face is a 20th-century replica of the west face, with the old corbels, string, and parapet reset.
