Description

Gates, gatepiers, and garden walls located south of Whitton Grange consist of garden walls likely dating from the 18th century, with the gates and piers constructed in 1921 by Robert Mauchlen for Sir Angus Watson. The walls are made of dressed stone, while the piers are ashlar, and the gates are crafted from wood and wrought iron.

In the center, in front of the house's front door, there is a pedestrian gate featuring square corniced ashlar piers topped with pyramidal caps. The gate itself is designed in the Arts-and-Crafts style, with a concave top rail. Flanking the pedestrian gate are ramped-down, concave quadrant walls that extend to the left and right, each approximately 4 feet high and topped with steeply-ridged coping.

At the east end, there are carriage gates set between square corniced piers, accompanied by elaborate wrought iron gates.

This structure is included for its group value.
