Description
The gate piers, gates, and stile located to the west of the Church of St. Cuthbert were likely built around 1840. They are made of sandstone ashlar with rubble jambs for the stile. The structure features two square piers with plinths and corniced pyramidal coping that support spear-headed vehicle gates. These gates are adorned with spiral and scroll panels, as well as twisted dogbars. To the left, the stile is flanked by rubble walls that hold three stone steps leading up to a high slab.
