Description
Cosin's Almshouses are former almshouses built in 1668 by Longstaffe for Bishop Cosin. The building is constructed of coursed squared sandstone with ashlar dressings and features a stone-flagged roof with stone gable copings. It is two storeys high and has five bays. The central door has been renewed and is set in a stop-chamfered Tudor-arched surround with a high label mould. The windows on the ground floor are three-light with stone mullions, while the first-floor windows are two-light, both having double-chamfered surrounds, most of which have been renewed. Above the door, there is a renewed inscription with painted arms. The first floor was removed in the 19th century.
