Description
The gate piers and walls in front of Pontop Hall are from the early 18th century. They consist of a sandstone rubble wall topped with stone coping, and feature ashlar piers. The wall stands about one metre high in front of the house and includes a wide entrance flanked by two square piers. These piers exhibit alternate-block rustication and large cornices, topped with ball finials on cruciform scroll brackets, although one bracket is missing. The wall extends around the garden to the right and ramps up to a height of 2 metres.
