Description
The Scorer tomb, located approximately 22 metres south-west of the Church of St. Laurence, is a headstone dating from around 1766. It is signed 'Robt. Kenna Fect.' on the top edge moulding and commemorates Henry Scorer, the son of Henry Scorer of Leamside 'near West Renton', along with members of his family until 1791. The tomb is made of sandstone ashlar and stands about 1.3 metres high, featuring an elaborately-shaped top. The design includes low-relief carved symbols, such as a serpent swallowing its tail, a skull, and a winged cherub, all set on a recessed pecked top panel.
