Description

The Wray tomb, located approximately 6 metres southeast of the Church of St. Margaret, is a headstone dating from around 1678, dedicated to John Wray. It is made of sandstone and stands about half a metre high, featuring a scrolled top with simple foliage on either side. The Wray family resided at Beamish Hall, but their estate was sequestered following the Civil War. This tomb is included for its historical significance.
