Description
St Margaret's House is a late 18th-century building that was originally two houses, now combined into one. It is constructed of coursed squared sandstone with quoins and ashlar dressings, topped with a Welsh slate roof featuring stone gable copings and brick or ashlar chimneys. The building has two storeys and four windows. The entrance, located in the second bay, features a six-panel door with an overlight that has glazing bars, all set beneath a flat stone lintel with alternate-block jambs. There is a similar blocked opening between the third and fourth windows. All the windows are tripartite sashes, positioned under flat stone lintels with projecting stone sills. The roof is adorned with moulded kneelers, and there is a corniced ashlar chimney at the left end, along with yellow brick chimneys located between the second and third bays at the right end. The rear elevation displays gabled outer bays, with the right bay featuring an ashlar chimney and an urn finial on a slightly-recessed gabled centre that contains a Gothic Tudor-arched window with a keyed surround and lattice glazing.
