Description
Newfield Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the 17th century and early 18th century, with restoration completed in the late 20th century. It is constructed of stone rubble with quoins and has renewed ashlar dressings. The roof is made of Welsh slate and features rubble chimneys and stone gable coping.
The original section of the farmhouse, which is the left part, has two storeys and two windows. The second section on the left has two lower storeys and one window. There is a gabled porch on the right side of the second section, which has irregular quoins and a renewed flat stone lintel above a boarded door. To the left of the porch, there are renewed three-light mullion windows on each floor, and the first section also has two similar windows on each floor. The roof includes two end chimneys, with the right chimney being new and located on the new right gable that has flat stone coping. There is also a third chimney at the centre, featuring a stepped external stack that is partly enclosed within the 18th-century left addition.
Inside, the farmhouse displays a flat Tudor arch to the stone fire surround in the left gable of the original section, along with an arched niche in the left return of the stack, which may have been a former access to a bread oven.
