Description
The Stockton & Darlington Railway Boundary Stone is a boundary marker dating from 1825. It is made from a single piece of finely dressed sandstone. The stone is an earth-fast pillar, with the upper portion measuring approximately 0.5 meters high and 0.3 meters by 0.2 meters in width. The west and east faces of the stone have a rounded top, and the west face, which faces away from the railway line, is deeply inscribed in Roman lettering on two lines, reading "S&" above "DR".
