Description

The Fenwick tomb, located approximately 18 metres west of the Church of St. Laurence, is a headstone dating from around 1820. It commemorates John Fenwick, a mason from Sherburn, who died at the age of 63, as well as his daughter and wife, who passed away in 1791 and 1820, respectively. The tomb is made of sandstone ashlar and stands about one metre high, featuring a shaped top. It is included in the register for its historical significance, as the Fenwick family of masons were known for their work at Elemore Hall.
