Description

The building is a well house, likely dating from the early 20th century, although it incorporates an earlier well. It stands approximately 20 metres south of Fyndoune Mews in Witton Gilbert. The well house has a timber frame with rendered panels set on an ashlar plinth, and a pantiled roof with decorative ridge tiles. It is a single-storey structure with one bay. A central door has diagonal boarding in the two lower panels and open latticework in the upper half, flanked by square panels with diagonal bracing. The door is under a projecting gable with bargeboards. The roof features spiral terra-cotta finials. The returns of the building display square panelling with diagonal bracing in the upper panels. Inside, there is a fluted cast-iron pump. The owner has reported the presence of a brick-lined well, which is now covered. The well house is included on the list for its group value.
