Description
The wall surrounding the churchyard of the Saxon Church in Escomb is likely from the 17th century, with 19th-century piers. It has a circular plan and is constructed from rubble with a rubble coping and stone piers. The narrow square piers feature gabled coping. The rubble wall that encloses the churchyard has roughly gabled coping and a boulder plinth in some areas. This wall is an important feature of the church's setting, defining the round shape of the graveyard, which is typical of Celtic and Saxon sites.
