Description

The building is a farmhouse with attached outbuildings, likely dating from the early 18th century, with alterations and additions from the 19th century. Constructed of coursed rubble with quoins, it features roofs of Welsh slate and pantiles, stone gable coping, and brick chimneys. The farmhouse is two stories high and comprises nine irregular bays.

The original two-bay section of the house has renewed quoins and a renewed door at the left, framed by a slightly-round-headed voussoir arch. To its right is a three-light window. The lower ground floor has a small four-pane fixed light at the left, beneath a wood lintel, and a two-light horizontal sliding sash window with broad glazing bars to the right. A taller three-bay addition to the left has similar stone lintels over a blocked central door where a window has been inserted, flanked by three-light windows, and a small window at the right end. The first floor of this addition features a three-light window to the left, and a small square light above the door. Most windows have been renewed with glazing bars, wood mullions and transoms and rendered sills; those in the original section were altered during the second build. The attached farmbuilding retains some left-hand quoins and old wood lintels over a boarded door in the second bay, and small square windows on either side. Stone steps lead to a loft door recessed in the fourth bay, with a wide loft window and hit-and-miss ventilator above the second-bay door.

The roofs have a higher ridge over the left three bays, but with continuous eaves, a central chimney is positioned over these bays. The original section has a ridge chimney near the right end and gable coping to the right. The farmbuilding’s roof incorporates a shorter raked section over the loft door. The right return shows throughstones in the gable. A small rear wing is also present.

Inside the original section of the house, close-set beams are visible. The loft roof of the farmbuilding displays pegged roof trusses.
