Description

Needles Lighthouse is a lighthouse built in 1859 by James Walker, who was the consultant engineer to Trinity House. It replaced an earlier lighthouse that was located on the cliff top. The structure is made of granite masonry and stands 33.25 metres high with a uniform diameter, featuring an unevenly stepped base. While the tower does not taper, the wall thickness varies from 1.07 metres at the bottom to 0.61 metres at the top. The lighthouse is topped with a battlemented parapet.
