Description
Terras Pill Bridge is a road bridge over the East Looe River, likely built around 1825. It is constructed of stone rubble and features a segmental dressed stone arch, along with a smaller round dressed stone flood arch on the north side.
To the north of the bridge are the remains of the Liskeard and Looe Canal, which ended at Terras Pill. An act was passed in 1825 to create a canal from Terras Pill up the East Looe River to Moorswater, connecting Liskeard with the tidal waters at Looe. As canal traffic grew, the canal was eventually replaced by the Liskeard and Caradon Railway, which was authorized by an act in 1843 and extended to Terras Pill in 1859.
