Description
Dewstow House is an early 19th century house that stands two storeys tall with a front elevation featuring three bays. The exterior is rendered and painted, topped with a tiled gabled roof that has flanking stacks. On the first floor, there are three windows fitted with plastic glazing, designed as French casements with small panes and an overlight, all framed with architraves. The first-floor balcony is adorned with turned balusters and a balustrade supported by Tuscan columns.
The central doorway on the ground floor is round-headed and features a six-panelled door with a plain fanlight above. On either side of this doorway, there are part-glazed double doors with square heads, each consisting of two lights. The main block has blind gable ends. At the rear, there are service wings that have been modernised and extended with contemporary glazing.
Inside, the ground floor has been modernised, but it still retains a semi-circular staircase with a cast iron balustrade and a moulded pine handrail. This staircase is illuminated by a small arched window that contains coloured glass.
