Description
The Signal Box at Tintern Station is a standard design by McKenzie and Holland. It features a stone base for the locking room and a timber-framed upper floor that is fully glazed on three sides, topped with a Welsh slate roof. The front has nine 6-pane windows, while the sides have six windows, with a door located at one end. The windows are sliding casements. The gables are adorned with horizontal boarding, plain bargeboards, and spike finials.
Currently, the signal box serves as a schoolroom for the station visitor centre. It was closed in 1960, and the 25 lever McKenzie and Holland frame was removed shortly after.
