Description

The property is a farmhouse, constructed of rubble stone, originally plastered, and now covered with a slate roof. It has end stacks with brick shafts. The building is two storeys and an attic and features an irregular pattern of mostly 19th-century or modern windows. The east front shows a slight split in the roof's centre, with the eaves slightly higher on the right than the left. The right side includes a small gabled dormer with a paired casement window, a long 19th-century window with yellow brick sides on the first floor, a matching casement pair below, and a 6-pane window from the 20th century to the left. The left side has a casement pair with a yellow-brick right jamb, positioned above a 20th-century half-glazed door; the jamb of both these features aligns with a break in the eaves. A lean-to open porch has been added to the front, supported by two iron posts. A lean-to has also been added to the left end with a casement-pair window on the first floor. The right gable end exhibits a corbelled external chimney with two offsets at the top, and a small casement pair window at ground floor level. The southern lean-to has two casement pair windows with cambered heads and stone voussoirs.

The rear elevation has a skylight in the roof, towards the right, and two casement pairs under the eaves. A door is located on the ground floor to the left, with a casement pair to the right. A single-storey rear wing extends from the southern lean-to. A brick stack is present on the west end of the building. A sash window is visible on the north side, and a dormer and sash window on the south. Further additions extend to the west, showcasing a brick stack and a whitewashed brick north wall with a casement pair.

The farmhouse originally had a two-room plan. The ground floor main room features four large chamfered beams with stepped hollow moulded stops, and joists with diagonal stops. A 19th-century fireplace is present, alongside stone spiral stairs which were uncovered in 1980. A door to the right leads into a lean-to with a heavy oak frame. A post and panel partition, also uncovered since 1980, incorporates a Tudor arched door to the right. The kitchen is located to the north, within what was formerly the parlour. A massive, deep, and narrow beam with stepped hollow moulded stops at both ends and the centre, indicates a longitudinal division. The southern lean-to contains a 19th-century bread oven. Modern stairs lead to the first floor. The first floor has five beams with stepped hollow stops, the third of which is grooved, likely for a partition, while the first and fifth are against the end walls. An oak winding staircase leads to the attic, which houses a three-bay original roof with two massive collar trusses and double purlins, two of the four being grooved on the underside, suggesting possible reuse.
