Description
The Cross in St Martin's Churchyard is a stone churchyard cross dating from the medieval period. It features a base composed of three relatively small steps, with the top two steps made from a single monolith. The bottom step is likely a rebuild from the 19th century. At the base, there is a small square medieval plinth stone that is square with a chamfered top. The cross itself is made from Forest of Dean stone, starting square at the foot and transitioning to an octagonal shape with a moulded capital beneath an 8-sided pedestal that supports a carved gabled Crucifix. The pedestal displays an IHC shield and crown on the front, with a date of 1885 inscribed on the rear.
