Description
Ty Mynydd is a building constructed of whitened stone rubble with a stone tiled roof and a central ridge stack. It is built into the hillside and may have originally been designed as a longhouse, with space for animals on the downhill side. The structure is a single storey with an attic and features battered walls. It has an irregular arrangement of altered windows that are set under timber lintels, some of which have hoods.
The interior is said to have once featured a cross passage plan, with the main room and byre open to the roof, although a floor has since been added. Notable features include a four-centred arched doorway leading from the passage, stop-chamfered beams in the main room, a blocked fireplace that backs onto the passage, and a spiral staircase next to the chimney. There were also former buttery and pantry spaces at the upper end. The A-frame roof is mostly modern, but the original truss over the byre has been retained.
