Description
Pentrebach House is a large villa that has been converted into an inn. It features a painted stucco exterior in the Italianate classical style, topped with a slate roof and stuccoed end stacks, along with two stacks on the front roof slope. The right end stack was rebuilt smaller in the 20th century. The building is two storeys high and has seven bays, with projecting sections in the second and sixth bays. It has angle quoins on the main range and the two projecting bays, a moulded cornice, and a parapet.
The windows are plate glass sash types without surrounds. A notable feature is the fine stucco pedimented doorcase located in the right projection, which has a moulded architrave and a pediment supported by console brackets, with 20th-century glazed doors. The seventh bay includes a later 19th-century two-storey canted bay with plate glass sashes, a cornice, and a parapet that wraps around.
Across the three central bays on the ground floor, there is a large 20th-century conservatory-style addition that was originally fitted with sash windows similar to those found elsewhere on the building. There have been various additions to the end walls and the rear, with each end wall featuring a first-floor and attic window. The 1876 Ordnance Survey map indicates that there was originally one rear projection to the centre right; however, there is now another projection of equal or larger size to the left. The interior of the ground floor has been completely altered.
