Description
The former Hall Range located to the south of Old Beaupre Castle is constructed from coursed limestone rubble. The northern elevation features an early 14th-century window with two transomed lights that have trefoiled heads and sunk spandrels, all set beneath a relieving arch made of dressed Sutton stone. The window has plain chamfers. Below this window is a doorway with a round timber head. The first floor of the eastern elevation appears to have been rebuilt and includes three rooflights and two pent dormers. There are three large, battered buttresses, also made of rubble, which have later openings.
On the southern elevation, there are two modified window openings, with the lower one retaining the eastern jamb and cill made of dressed Sutton stone. At the western end of the southern gable, there is a substantial, projecting rubble stack. The western elevation features a modern doorway at the southern end and a single square-headed light on the northern side. There is also a tall square stack at the northern end with a pyramidal cap. To the north of this stack is an original opening with a two-centred head formed by a relieving arch of voussoirs.
Inside, the ground floor retains two early fireplaces. At the southern end, the fireplace in the western corner has a projecting hood with plain jambs, while the western wall features an early timber lintel and herringbone stonework on the back wall. The first floor has been modernly reintroduced at a higher level than the original. The northern window has splayed reveals and shows evidence of a window seat, along with indications of shutters for each light. At the southern end, there is a niche, but no other features remain.
