Description
No. 1 and the parallel range to the rear are early 19th-century, short, two-storey terraced buildings. The frontages are mostly finished in scribed stucco, except for No. 1, which is roughcast. They feature plinths, slate roofs, and brick-capped rubble chimney stacks. No. 1, formerly the Red Lion public house, has three windows plus one at the end, while Nos. 3 to 11 each have one window. The windows have recessed sash glazing, mostly with 12 panes, and No. 1 has architraves and some voussoir lintels. The left end of No. 1 has a canted angle with a 12-pane sash window above a boarded door entrance. Various front doors at Nos. 5, 7, and 9 have small-pane fanlights.
The right end wall is made of whitewashed rubble. The rear is also rubble, featuring brick segmental-headed lintels above casement windows, with slate roof lean-tos and one cross range.
At the time of inspection in April 1986, No. 1 was in poor condition, and the ground floor of No. 3 had been significantly altered for use as a Chinese restaurant. No. 5 was boarded up.
