Description
No. 9 and the parallel range to the rear is an early 19th-century, two-storey terrace with varied design. The buildings are finished in scribed stucco, except for No. 1, which is roughcast. They feature plinths, slate roofs, and brick-capped rubble chimney stacks. No. 1, formerly the Red Lion public house, has three windows plus one additional window, while Nos. 3 to 11 have one window each. The windows are mostly recessed sash glazing, primarily with 12 panes, and No. 1 has architraves and some voussoir lintels. The left end of No. 1 has a canted angle with a 12-pane sash window above a boarded door entrance. Various front doors are present, with small-pane fanlights at Nos. 5, 7, and 9.
The right end wall is made of whitewashed rubble, and the rear is constructed of rubble with brick segmental-headed lintels above casement windows. There are slate roof lean-tos at the rear, including one with a cross range.
At the time of inspection in April 1986, No. 1 was in poor condition, the ground floor of No. 3 had been significantly altered for use as a Chinese restaurant, and No. 5 was boarded up.
