Description

This is a lime kiln made of coursed rubble stone, featuring a tall stack that has been truncated and is now overgrown. The kiln is built into a steep bank, allowing for charging from the top and drawing from the bottom. On the eastern side, there is a brick-vaulted draw arch that projects in front of the stack and shows two phases of construction, identifiable by a butt joint. Raked buttresses flank the draw arch, enclosing a loading bay primarily made of bedrock with stone coping. In front of the draw arch, there is a platform cut into the bedrock, which has been shaped to create a loading bay.
